On February 10th 1945, a Lancaster bomber ME750 crashed less than a mile from Siddington village hall with the loss of it seven young British and Canadian crew members.
Eighty years later, on February 9th 2025, a memorial service was held at St Peter’s Church, Siddington followed by the unveiling of a memorial plaque at Siddington Village Hall.
The unveiling was attended by Deputy Lord Lieutenant, Air Marshall Sir David Walker, Lord and Lady Bathurst, Lieutenant Colonel Gregory Zweng representing the Canadian Government and family members of the crew who had travelled from as far as Scotland and Canada.
The plaque can be viewed at the front of the village hall beneath the World War One dedication inscription.
